Project Overview
As part of a university assignment, we were tasked with designing and prototyping a self-chosen digital service. Our team chose to create a mobile app for ordering coffee, inspired by Scandinavian design principles. The goal was to allow users to quickly purchase standard coffee options or create their own customized drink to save and reorder later.
With a target audience of busy 25–35-year-olds, the app aimed to provide a smooth and efficient experience—ideal for people on the go who value speed and personalization.
Problem
To better understand how to meet our audience’s needs, I conducted a heuristic evaluation of a similar service to identify which features worked well and which could be improved from a UX perspective. This insight helped inform our own design process and pointed to opportunities for enhanced usability.
Based on this research and our defined audience, I developed a persona representing a typical user. I also created two moodboards to guide the visual direction, eventually selecting one that best reflected the tone we wanted. We sketched individual wireframes, discussed them as a team, and combined the strongest elements into a unified concept.
Results
The final design resulted in a warm and soft aesthetic, evoking calm while keeping cognitive load to a minimum. The ordering process was streamlined into just a few intuitive steps, supporting our goal of a fast and frictionless experience. The final prototype balances minimalist elegance with user-centered functionality—perfect for coffee lovers on the move.
